Moving house is stressful enough without adding a new town or city you don’t know into the mix. If you’re moving town for work, change of duty station or something else, this is just the kind of situation you might find yourself in.
We can’t solve all the stresses of moving for you, but we can help with one. Where to live while you get your bearings and learn which areas of town to live in and which to not.
Executive housing is the same as corporate housing. Fully furnished and equipped apartments, town homes and properties of all shapes and sizes.
Properties can be fully serviced and even include cleaning or grocery shopping!
Stay in one of our properties during your move and you can learn all about your new city before you commit your money or sign a long term lease.
It’s the best way to try before you buy!
Ask your employer for help
Planning a house move is a process. It may contain a lot of steps and have a lot at stake but it’s still a process.
Ask your employer what relocation assistance they offer. Do they help pay for transport, moving, flights, the cost of selling your own home? Will they buy you out of your current lease?
Asking your employer what’s available can yield surprising results as they will want to keep your goodwill for the move!
Visit your new city ahead of time
If you have the time, fly or drive to your new city to recce. Spend the weekend or a few days and get a feel for the place. What’s the traffic like? Where are the business districts? What’s Downtown like? Is there public transport? Schools? Things to see and do?
A few days isn’t usually long enough to figure out what parts of the city are livable and what aren’t, but you can get a general feel for the place in that time.
Rent a car or drive your own, take a look at real estate agents, find a property within budget and go check out the area. It’s a more targeted approach than randomly driving around neighborhoods and you might find something you like!
Reserve your furnished rental
As soon as you have a firm moving date, book your executive housing. Most of our properties are busy all year round so the more notice you can give us, the better.
The earlier you book, the more likely you are to be able to secure a furnished rental in an area you want to explore. Either in the center so you can experience city life or in a neighborhood you might like to live in when you’re here.
Either way, we can secure a high quality furnished rental for periods of 28 days or more.
Properties come with all furniture and appliances, cutlery, crockery, satellite or cable TV, internet and everything you need. We can also provide extras like housekeeping and grocery deliveries too.
All for a sensible monthly price.
Arrange storage and movers
If you’re staying in our executive housing, you’ll need to put your own home into storage for a little while. You can bring all your important stuff with you but you won’t need furniture or any housewares.
So, we recommend booking the movers and storage as soon as your accommodation is booked.
Again, the earlier you book, the more likely you are to get what you want. As you’ll likely have a deadline by which to move and be ready for your new post or place of work, organization is key.
Executive housing is a superb way to move to a new city. Rent a fully furnished house, move in, explore the area and spend time getting a feel for your new home before you commit.
It’s the only way to go!
